I like YCH's having different types of species so I know they can draw them, but I think it is even more important for the artist to list what kind of species they WILL draw in that YCH in their description. There have been plenty of times that I have passed on a YCH because I didn't know if they would draw my character who is not an "Average" anatomy of something.
What can be placed in this YCH space? Small characters? Large Characters, Feral, Feral-anthro, Anthro, Short Anthro characters, lady characters with normal sized boobs (because some artists don't ever draw normal sized boobs)?
I never get YCHs because I have a feral-anthro character, and even her full anthro is of a not-so-average proportion (Short, small, 4 feet tall) and artists often do not draw her to proportion. They also often will not draw a smaller/shorter character, even anthro, in their YCHs and instead confine the proportions to what they already have in their ych. I don't see many artists flexible enough for my character.
(And forget about YCHs for Monster-like bodies. People will barely even accept to drawing them unlesss their practicing something)
Honestly I would want them to be able to do a bunch of different types.
But perhaps segregate them into like.... 4 different categories? Quadruped, Bipedal, Special designs, and Humans.
But really the artists should be comfortable and like* the characters they are YCHing. So if the artist is into doing small, cute, quadruped designs and are super into the groups Sushi Dogs, Flufflebuns, and Nekois; Perhaps they should stay away from CCCats, Xynthii, or Nautipods. While they can be done in cute styles, perhaps the artist is not proficient in the body types or species in general. If the artist isn't interested or dosen't understand the anatomy they are working with, the YCH will show it.
*By like I mean, they don't need to like the character, but they need to like drawing what they are. A dog, an anthro, a Cerberus, ect;
I like YCH that are open to any species that fits ;v; Like if it's a four legged animal, allowing any four legged character that fits the anatomy to be used. idk for me I just have way too many characters who don't fit just one species and its so hard to get art of them unless I just flat out commission, but I'd rather get YCH because I like the pose or whatever ;A; Just seems like too many people focus on canines and felines and just forget about everything else.
Same >o< In most OC cases small dogs and small cats pretty much go to the same body base since most of them have no real life cat / certain dog breed anatomy anyway. And as long as it is cartoonish it would totally suit to both bodies xD
